Snapchat
Snapchat is one of the social media platforms that everyone is using, or mostly everyone. Almost all teenagers have this app on their phones, iPad, or some form of electronic device that they use all of time. Snapchat has so many cool features, one that I really like is all the different filters. They even have ones for the different holidays happening during the year. They have ones that make you look even more beautiful than you are just with devil horns on your head. Teen's love using the Snapchat filters and making the different faces and the different backgrounds that they add.
Snapchat does have something that I do not like and that is that you have to save you snap before you send it to someone. Otherwise, it is not saved, and you lose that picture if you do not save it. Your snaps are also only saved for 24 hours, so if it is messaging back and forth with someone it will disappear after the 24-hour time limit. So, you need to make sure that you click on the right settings if there is something that you would like to save or hold down the message and it will ask if you want to save this message in the chat.
Also, if you screenshot a picture or the messages you are in it will let the person you were chatting with know that you screenshot the picture so you could save it. It will also let the person you are messaging know that you read the messages they sent, and it will let them know if you saved a chat in your messages too.
All in all, I think Snapchat can be a fun way to take pictures and using the filters is fun too. As long as you remember to save them if you want to keep them because once you click again, they are gone forever.
I, now 26, can remember when Snapchat came out when I was in high school, and how popular it was initially! It even became my mode of communication over texting for a while. However, since graduating high school and forming new friendships and relationships, I rarely use it at all. I know it's still very popular amongst younger crowds, but it seems apps like this are marketed to be geared more towards them. I also know Snapchat was a groundbreaker in the world face filters (we all remember the barfing rainbow!). However, if I were to take it off my phone today, I don't think I'd miss it.
